MARCH MADNESS COMES TO HOOKSETT, NH
On Sunday, March 25th, the Hooksett Youth Athletic Association (HYAA) Travel Girls 5th and 6th Grade Basketball Team clinched the Manchester Suburban Basketball League (MSBL) Division 2 Championship by defeating St. Catherine 22-20.  The win capped a great season for the team of 11 girls.  After starting the season 0-1, the team finished with a regular season record of 11-2, tied for first in their division.  In the playoffs. Hooksett outscored their opponents 111-67, winning all four of their playoff games,  playing great defense against their opponents.  In their first game, they defeated Hudson 26-9, followed by a win against  Litchfield 39-15, with all 11 girls scoring in the victory.  On  March 24th, Hooksett played Brookline in the semi-final.  During this game, Hooksett trailed the entire game by as many as 10 points, but never gave up and took it's first lead of 22-21 with under a minute to play.  After falling behind again,  Hooksett regained the lead with only 11 seconds left in the game and won  24-23.  In the Championship game, despite foul trouble and an injury to their starting point guard, the team rallied to defeat St. Catherine 22-20 to win the Championship.  Congrats to these girls!

"After many lead changes and three and half quarters of nail-biting, the Lady C's of Hooksett took the game, in the final minute. With quick passing, aggressive defense and a press like a brick wall, the Lady C's were able to take control in the final moments of the game to seal the victory. The girls were able to score 8 points in a matter of 1 minute and 30 seconds taking the lead.  With great steals by Gabby Langella and Cambria St. Germain and clutch shots from Kayla Norton and Katie Nickerson and the defensive wizardry of Kailye Nay, the Lady C's finish strong.  Coming off the bench in the winning effort was the sharp shooter, Alyssa Vaillancourt, the floor master, Emily Boilard, Skylar O'Mara, the spider, the new girl in town, Renee Goodwin and Madison "Larry" Byrd.  With a team effort and a will to win, the Lady C's brought home the championship to Hooksett.  Megan Valley, who could not make this game was an intricate and key member of the Lady C's all season."
